Suji Masala Dosa 


Ingredients (For 6-7 Dosas)

For Dosa Batter:

  • Suji (Semolina) - 1 cup

  • Besan (Gram Flour) - 1 tbsp

  • Gehu ka Atta (Wheat Flour) - 1 tbsp

  • Namak (Salt) - As per taste

  • Dahi (Curd) - 1 cup

  • Pani (Water) - As required to make batter

  • Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp

  • Oil - For cooking dosa

For Masala Filling:

  • Oil - 1 tbsp

  • Sarso (Mustard Seeds) - 1 tsp

  • Chana Dal - 1 tbsp

  • Curry Leaves - 8-10

  • Hari Mirch (Green Chili) - 1 (Chopped)

  • Ginger - 1 inch (Grated)

  • Pyaaz (Onion) - 1 Large (Sliced)

  • Salt - To taste

  • Haldi Powder (Turmeric Powder) - 1/2 tsp

  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/4 tsp

  • Aloo (Potatoes) - 5 (Boiled, peeled, and chopped)

  • Hara Dhania (Fresh Coriander) - 2 tbsp (Chopped)


Step-by-Step Method

Step 1: Preparing the Batter

  1. In a mixing bowl, add suji, besan, wheat flour, and salt.

  2. Pour curd into the mixture and mix well.

  3. Gradually add water to form a smooth, lump-free batter.

  4. Let the batter rest for 15-20 minutes to allow proper soaking.

  5. After resting, add baking soda and mix again.

Step 2: Preparing the Masala Filling

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Let them crackle.

  2. Add chana dal and sauté until it turns golden brown.

  3. Add curry leaves, green chili, and grated ginger. Sauté for a few seconds.

  4. Now, add sliced onions and cook until they turn light golden.

  5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

  6. Add the boiled, chopped potatoes and mix everything properly.

  7. Stir for 2-3 minutes and then add fresh coriander leaves. Turn off the heat.

Mixed it for 1 minute 

Step 3: Making the Dosa
  1. Heat a tawa (griddle) and grease it lightly with oil.

  2. Pour a ladleful of batter and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin dosa.

  3. Drizzle a little oil around the edges and cook on medium flame until golden brown and crispy.

  4. Place 2-3 tbsp of prepared masala filling in the center and fold the dosa.

  5. Cook for another minute to ensure crispiness, then serve hot.


Serving Suggestion

Serve hot Suji Masala Dosa with coconut chutney and sambar for a delicious meal!
