Cold Cocoa Drink Recipe – Surat Style | Summer Special Chocolate Drink

Are you looking for a cool and chocolaty drink to survive the summer heat? Then this Surat-style Cold Cocoa is the perfect treat! Thick, creamy, and made with real chocolate – this drink feels like you're sipping melted chocolate. It’s super easy to prepare and tastes just like the famous cold cocoa you get in Surat.

Ingredients:

  • Milk – 600 ml (2 glasses)

  • Cornflour – 2 tbsp

  • Cocoa Powder (unsweetened) – 2 tbsp

  • Sugar – 4 tbsp (adjust to taste)

  • Dark Chocolate – 70 g (any variety like Dairy Milk works too)

  • Ice Cubes – for serving

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Heat the Milk

  • Pour 600 ml of milk into a pan and start heating it on medium flame.

  • Stir continuously so the milk doesn’t burn or stick to the bottom.

Step 2: Mix Cocoa Powder & Cornflour

  • In a bowl, add 2 tbsp cocoa powder and 2 tbsp cornflour

    Cocoa Powder & cornflour

  • Add a few spoons of warm milk and mix it until smooth.

  • Make sure there are no lumps in the mixture.

Step 3: Add Sugar

  • Once the milk is slightly warm, add 4 tbsp sugar.

  • For a sweeter version (especially for kids), you can increase to 5–6 tbsp.

Step 4: Combine the Mixtures

  • Slowly add the cocoa-cornflour mix into the warm milk while stirring continuously.

  • This will prevent lumps and give you a smooth texture.

Step 5: Add Chocolate

  • Chop 70 g of dark chocolate and add it to the milk.

  • Stir constantly until the chocolate melts completely.

  • Bring the mixture to a light boil. It will thicken nicely.

Tip: You can use vanilla custard powder instead of cornflour for a different taste, but real chocolate and cornflour give the best authentic flavor.

Step 6: Let It Cool

  • Once the mixture boils and thickens, turn off the heat.

  • Let it cool for 10–15 minutes at room temperature.

Step 7: Crush the Ice

  • Crush ice cubes using a clean cloth and rolling pin, or use a blender for convenience.

    Crush it

Step 8: Assemble & Serve

  • Take a tall glass and fill half with crushed ice.

  • Pour the cold cocoa mixture over it till the glass is full.

  • For instant chilling and a frothy texture, pour the drink back and forth between two glasses 3–4 times.

    Pour 3-4 times

Serving Suggestion:

Serve immediately with some extra crushed ice on top. You’ll love the thick, chocolatey taste with every sip.

Ready to Serve

Why You’ll Love This Cold Cocoa:

  • Tastes like real melted chocolate

  • Thick and creamy like a dessert drink

  • Perfect for hot summer days

  • Kid-friendly and party-perfect

Try it once, and you'll never go back to regular chocolate milk!
